Skyscraper Cone History
Isaly’s Ice Cream has been unanimous with the Skyscraper cone for generations!
What is a Skyscraper cone? It’s a pointed scoop of ice cream that was at least 3 inches above the top of the cone. It required a special scoop (pictured below) called a skyscraper scoop that was unique to Isaly’s.
Legend has it that when the stores stopped using the scoops, someone buried all of them under the parking lot at the Boulevard of the Allies location so no one could find them and use them! Of course, there are still some in circulation. Mostly from people who used to work at Isaly’s who took them home as souvenirs.
